Sarah Morrison appointed Trust Scholarship Director

YelloHalo Ambos First Trust welcomes the appointment of Sarah Morrison as Scholarship Director and applauds her vision to commemorate the life of colleague Mike Bowers.

Sarah has a lot going on in her busy life. A new mum and full time Intensive Care Paramedic, with a Masters Degree in Health Practice (Paramedicine). She has lead onshore and offshore clinics in and around Australia, and competed in international paramedic competitions including JEMS Games, FernoSim, and Rallye Rejviz.

Now Sarah adds Trust Scholarship Director to her portfolio of community work and says she “couldn’t be happier”.

“I'm both excited and grateful for the opportunity to give back to our hard working ambos through my role as Scholarship Director of the Trust”, says Sarah.

As part of her ambulance role Sarah has spent many years crewing on various rescue helicopters as a winch medic around the North Island of New Zealand. Sarah also has a military background as a Reserve Force Rifleman in the New Zealand Army.

“After careful consideration Sarah became the obvious choice for the Scholarship Director role as her background of front line duty, military training and lecturing in paramedicine provide a unique set of sector relevant insights and skills,” said YelloHalo founder and fellow trustee Graeme Blake.

“Sarah has a passion for best practice and research in prehospital care, and was involved in conferences and publications as a lecturer on the BHSc Paramedicine degree at AUT”, says Blake.

“I am extremely proud to announce the first scholarship which will open for applications in early 2021 - the Mike Bowers Memorial Scholarship for front line ambulance staff,” says Sarah. “Special thanks to Belinda Bowers and the Bowers family for allowing us to honour Mike in this way”.

“The Mike Bowers Memorial Scholarship is the first in a series of initiatives designed to improve the lives and careers of front line ambulance officers in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Stay posted for further details of this wonderful opportunity.”
