Why we’re not so Yellow now

When good sorts get right up a big brands nose

When we launched YelloHalo in 2020 to raise funds for frontline Ambulance Officers, Volunteers and Paramedics in Aotearoa we never imagined we would get a legal challenge over our brand . . . especially not from a tax payer funded ambulance service.

So after lengthy legal letters, grumpy emails and threats to oppose our use of the colour yellow in our YelloHalo brand, here we are, with every colour under the sun except yellow to promote our brand. A rainbow if you will.

Even our use of a halo has been challenged, along with showing any kind of ambulance equipment or front line personnel who could be recognised or mistaken for an employee of this venerable ambulance service.

In the end, with extremely limited access to funds, the completely volunteer team at YelloHalo have elected to back down from a legal stoush and let them and their legal team have their win.

The best way for us to do good is to keep on going. We have a plan and a colour isn’t going to get in our way, neither is a corporate bully. Nobody likes a bully after all.

So we continue to keep the faith and spread the word about YelloHalo - tell all your friends and whanau to get onboard with fairly priced broadband and a donation of their choice to YelloHalo and the 1,100 frontline Ambos we’re genuinely trying to help.
